Asja and Skhumbin chose a wedding day that felt true to them — intimate, relaxed and focused on the moments that mattered most. Their celebration began with a private first look overlooking the Adriatic Sea at Belveder above Koper, followed by a civil ceremony in Koper.
Instead of a traditional wedding timeline, they spent part of the day creating beautiful portraits at Villa Mirasasso in Sežana before heading to a family dinner on the hills above Izola, where they surprised their parents and closest friends by arriving already married.

The day didn’t unfold exactly as planned.
After their first look at Belveder overlooking the Adriatic coast, dark clouds gathered above Koper and rain began to fall. As if that wasn’t enough, Asja and Skhumbin received unexpected news just before their ceremony. Instead of getting married in Koper’s beautiful Praetorian Palace as originally planned, the ceremony location was changed at the last minute to a government building on the outskirts of town.
With little time to spare, we hurried through the old streets of Koper, umbrellas in hand, making our way across the city. What could have felt stressful somehow became one of the most memorable parts of the day. Between the rain, the laughter and the excitement, Asja and Shkumbin simply embraced the unexpected.

And waiting for them at the end of the walk was another meaningful detail — a Mercedes that belonged to Asja’s grandfather. More than just a car, it carried family memories and became a beautiful part of their wedding story.

After a day filled with unexpected turns, Asja and Shkumbin finally had a chance to slow down.
Before heading to Villa Mirasasso for their portrait session, they stopped at a small café in Sežana to celebrate their newly married status. Away from the rush of the ceremony and the rain in Koper, they raised a glass together and enjoyed a quiet moment before continuing the day.

Sometimes the smallest moments become the most memorable ones. A simple toast, a few deep breaths and the realization that after months of planning, they were finally husband and wife.
Long before the wedding day, Asja had already fallen in love with Villa Mirasasso. Years earlier, she had come across photographs of its beautiful historic greenhouse and elegant interiors, and she couldn’t stop imagining what wedding portraits there might look like.
There was something about the combination of glass, light, and timeless architecture that felt incredibly romantic and unique. When she shared the idea with Bini, he immediately agreed, and together they began building part of their wedding story around this special location.
Even though the weather didn’t cooperate entirely on their wedding day, Villa Mirasasso proved to be everything they had hoped for. The greenhouse offered a beautiful backdrop for intimate portraits, while the surrounding gardens and countryside views added even more variety to their photographs.
Some wedding locations are chosen for convenience. Others become part of the story itself. For Asja and Bini, Villa Mirasasso was one of those places.

As the rain continued to fall, Asja and Bini made their way towards Šared in her grandfather’s Mercedes. The raindrops on the windows were a reminder that the day hadn’t gone entirely according to plan, yet every mile brought them closer to an evening filled with warmth, laughter, and the people they love most.

Rather than inviting guests to witness the ceremony itself, Asja and Skhumbin chose a different approach. In the evening, they gathered their parents and closest friends for dinner in the hills above Izola. The guests arrived expecting a simple celebration, only to discover that the couple had already exchanged vows earlier that day. The surprise brought laughter, tears and a relaxed atmosphere that perfectly reflected who they are as a couple.

One of Asja’s biggest wishes for her wedding day was to celebrate beneath these beautiful chandeliers overlooking the rolling hills of Šared. Unfortunately, the rain had other plans, and the evening reception had to be moved indoors.
But there was no way we were going to let these stunning chandeliers go completely unused. Later that evening, we stepped outside with Asja and Bini and captured a few portraits beneath their sparkling glow. What could have been a disappointment turned into one of the most magical moments of the day.

As night fell, the chandeliers illuminated the garden and created an almost fairytale-like atmosphere. Together with their wedding cake, the warm lights, and the peaceful countryside setting, it felt like the perfect ending to a day that proved beautiful memories can still be made, even when things don’t go exactly as planned.

And because no wedding story is complete without a little personality, Asja’s Jimmy Choo heels found their way into one final photograph. Hanging from the sparkling chandelier she had dreamed of all along, they became the perfect symbol of a day that didn’t unfold exactly as planned, yet somehow turned out even more beautiful.

Sometimes the most memorable wedding moments aren’t the ones you carefully organize. They’re the unexpected little details that become part of the story.
In recent years, more couples have been choosing intimate weddings over large traditional celebrations. Rather than focusing on guest numbers, they are prioritizing meaningful experiences, beautiful locations, and quality time with the people who matter most.
Asja and Bini’s wedding was a perfect example of this approach. Their day began with a civil ceremony in Koper, continued with portraits at Villa Mirasasso, and ended with a relaxed celebration in the hills above Izola. Instead of a packed schedule, they created space for genuine moments, spontaneous laughter, and memories shared with their closest family and friends.
Slovenia offers countless possibilities for intimate weddings, from historic coastal towns and vineyard estates to hidden countryside venues like Villa Mirasasso. For couples dreaming of a wedding that feels personal, relaxed, and authentic, a micro wedding in Slovenia can be the perfect choice.
Nestled among the rolling hills of the Karst region, Villa Mirasasso offers a unique setting for wedding photography in Slovenia. The historic greenhouse, elegant gardens, stone architecture, and panoramic countryside views create a variety of backdrops within a single location.
One of the things I love most about photographing weddings at Villa Mirasasso is the atmosphere. The venue feels private and peaceful while still offering plenty of character and visual interest. Whether capturing portraits inside the greenhouse, golden hour moments in the garden, or evening celebrations beneath the chandeliers, every part of the property tells a different story.
For couples looking for a romantic garden wedding venue in Slovenia, Villa Mirasasso combines timeless charm with beautiful natural surroundings, making it a dream location for both intimate celebrations and wedding photography.
Yes, foreigners can legally get married in Slovenia. Depending on your nationality, you may need translated and officially certified documents before the ceremony. Many international couples choose Slovenia for its beautiful landscapes, historic towns, and relatively simple marriage process compared to other European destinations.
A civil wedding is the legally binding marriage ceremony performed by a government registrar. In Slovenia, civil ceremonies can take place at official registry locations or approved venues. Many couples combine a civil wedding with a symbolic celebration at a venue such as Villa Mirasasso, creating a more personal and relaxed wedding experience.
